Indoors, range is almost never the criterion: a room rarely runs past ten metres. What counts is the number of planes and how visible the beam is under the light in the room.

A cross-line laser is enough for a wall, a shelf, plain tiling. As soon as a continuous reference is needed all round — tracks, tiling across several rooms, setting out — the 360° planes save the time you would spend moving the instrument.
